PRAYER
God our Father, may all
of life’s experiences lead us to grow as people who always put love into
all that we do.
May we live in such a way that our attitude and words and actions reflect
to all people their own value, dignity and self-worth,
helping people to feel wanted and appreciated for who they are.
Amen.
Principals Report
Last week our Director of the Port Pirie Diocese, Mrs. Nichii Marden, visited individually all of our four Riverland schools and also addressed the staff at a combined meeting, followed by a joint dinner that evening. In her discussion with us all, she very strongly emphasised that each one of us working in Catholic Education has a vital role in the mission of the Church and to strive for the goal of our schools having ‘Thriving people, capable learners, leaders for the world God desires’.
As a group we were enlightened and learnt more about Catholic Education South Australia’s (CESA’s), Living, Learning, Leading Framework. This framework pictured below, is our guide into the future. It’s what we all want for every young person, the staff and leadership in our schools.
Last weekend our parent community was involved in assisting with the Bunnings barbecue on Saturday. We raised just over $500, and on the Sunday many helped with our first working bee for this Semester. I thank all those involved in both events. It is great being involved in the community as a school and it was amazing to see so many involved in working hard to make things safer and better in our school environment. Our next working bee group is on Sunday 28th October, 2018.

Thank you to Alexander Foley-Jennings for organising our ‘Scooter Day’ last week for the children in Years Foundation to Year 3. There were so many children who brought their scooters along and they all had incredible fun utilising the hard court space area at both lunch and recess break. It was just wonderful seeing this event work so well, with very little injuries and a great sense of pride and joy for Alexander.

SPORTS DAY NEWS
Thank you to all the families who have returned the Sports Day note. I will be in touch in the next week for those who have indicated they can help. If any parent or family member is available next Friday 21st September at any time during the day, please let me know – I would love some help line marking the footy oval!
And just one last time as a gentle reminder about the purpose of Sports Day:
Sports Day is fast approaching us all and there a few things we would just like to remind all parents about. Sports Day is about supporting and celebrating the achievements of the child for simply participating. The students are very encouraging and positive to not only their own House members but also towards the other teams. As parents, it is expected that you remain positive and encourage your own and other children in their events to be strong role models. Especially in the older years, there is an emphasis amongst the students on friendly competition rather than a win at all cost’s mentality. As well, there are specific rules for each event that staff are fully aware of and will ensure are followed to guarantee that each event is participated in fairly and with good sportspersonship.
