Pope Francis’s intention prayer for September
Season of Creation – Jubilee for the Earth
Pope Francis has established September 1st as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, encouraging the Catholic community around the world to pray for our common home. We are reminded that "every person living on this planet" is called to care for our shared Earth. September 1 begins a month long reflection and dedication to our Earth and God's Creation, which has now been named the ‘Season of Creation.’
The season starts 1 September, the Day of Prayer for Creation, and ends 4 October, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology. We are called to come together to care for our common home.
We are all invited to spend time daily in prayer to reflect on the small changes we can each make that collectively will impact greatly on the health of our precious Earth. Below is a “Season of Creation Pill”, for Friday 10th September. It is one of the daily reflection videos that we will be publishing every day, from September 1st to October 4th. Just like a pill offers a cure when we are unwell, theses short video messages challenge us to think deeply about the role we play in the care of our common home and offers small changes we can make to help cure our Earth.
If you would like to continue these daily reflections, you can find them on the Global Climate Movement Youtube Channel @

A Prayer for Our Earth – Pope Francis
All powerful God,
you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love,
that we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with peace,
that we may live as brothers and sisters,
harming no one.
O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth,
so precious in your eyes.
Amen

"If your brother or sister listens to you, you will have won that person back.”
Something to Think About
Today's gospel reading is about community. What does the word 'community' mean to you?
Can you name some different communities that you belong to?
The Story
In the gospel story today, Jesus teaches his followers about how they should live in community with one another. Jesus gives his disciples some advice about what to do when members of the community make a complaint or refuse to listen. It is important for people to belong to a community. Belonging makes us feel secure and loved. Jesus wants us to live together as one happy family.
