In Religion, the Foundation and Year One class are reflecting on who God is and why we pray. We learned about the Creation Story and used the Nature Play box to retell the story. We thought of our own 'Thank You God' prayers to thank God for the things we love.

We are practising reading and writing in class and we have already improved since the beginning of the year. We are learning to start our writing with 'Sizzling Starts' to make our writing more interesting. A checklist has been made in class to ensure that our sentences make sense, start with a capital letter and end with a full stop.

The students have been exploring numbers and how to solve addition and subtraction stories. Strategies that we have been using include using concrete materials, counting-on and looking at pictures. We sing a song that helps us count all the way to 100!

Families and things that have happened in the past has been the focus of our Hass lessons. We have been discussing what our families do together and we love singing the family tree song. We have been thinking about some things that have happened in the past. There are some pictures that we have seen from the past and we've talked about how things have changed.

We are learning about living things. We have enjoyed talking about the similarities and differences between animals and plants. We have started looking at the external features of living things and we are enjoying labelling body parts of animals, using adjectives to describe their features.
