The winter 3 week break is the perfect time to sit back, relax and enjoy a good book! With lots of new books hitting our school library shelves teachers have been ensuring that their classes are visiting the school library regularly and all students have access to great books to read over the break.
Next Semester we will be including in our newsletter updates about new books available for students to borrow – at OLOR we place a high importance on every student reading everyday. In the words of JK Rowling ' If you don't like to read, you haven't found the right book.'
What are kids reading at the moment?
Class Read Aloud in Year 5 is a hit because learning about animals they haven't heard of before - 'Encyclopedia of Dangerous Animals' by Sami Bayly.
Year 3 are going Tootie Fruitie for the hilarious Frootie Series by Hil Rogers.
Xanadu is loving the interesting words used in 'Withering by the sea' by Judith Rossell.
Jack thinks this book makes learning fun and he's is finding out about lots of new and amazing topics. 'Dr Karl's Random Road Trip through Science'.
Yvette recommends this read for upper primary as it shows you the effect social media can have on your life and how it can affect your happiness.
Damon recommends this read if you as it is full of adventure – if you like prison break books this is the book you need!
Paul explained that this book is a true story about a boy with cancer and the main character is trying to get the Queens attention so a doctor can possibly save his life.
